Abstract
This study aims to measure the impact of the extensive preschool program launched in 2018 by King Mohammed VI, which aims to create 10,000 modern preschools and rehabilitate another 5,000 by 2023. The project seeks to measure the impact of preschools in Morocco in the short, medium and long term. The objective of the small field study is to collect data to inform the design of a large-scale randomized controlled trial.
Expected Policy Impact
Our project seeks to measure the impact of preschools in Morocco in the short, medium and long term. We expect this project to contribute to the literature on preschools in dierent ways. First, it will be one of the few large-scale RCTs on the impact of expanding access to modern preschools in lower-income countries (the first in the MENA region). Second, we hope to be able to measure the impact of the modern preschool construction program when implemented alone and the impact of the same program when implemented in conjunction with an intervention to improve maternal and child health (particularly nutrition) — also crucial for child development.
