Dr. Joeri Smits was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at EPoD at the Harvard Kennedy School. He completed his Bachelor studies in Economics and Policy at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. In 2012, he graduated from the Master of Science in Development and Natural Resource Economics at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Joeri obtained his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich, where his research focused on the formalization of credit markets, financial literacy and household over-indebtedness. His research interest is development economics, and his current research focuses on the economics of migration, as well as household finance and entrepreneurship in developing countries.
