Janhavi Nilekani was a PhD Student Affiliate with EPoD until she completed her degree in Public Policy at Harvard University in May 2018. Her research fields include environmental economics and development economics and she is particularly interested in Indian environmental policy, with a focus on air pollution.
In Janhavi's job market paper, she implemented a field experiment with public sector bus drivers in Karnataka, India. She demonstrates that training and financial incentives can improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Other work includes evaluating potential particulate matter control policies for Indian industrial plants, and estimating the impact of particulate matter exposure for the Indian population.

Janhavi is from Bangalore, India, and graduated from Yale University in 2010 with a BA, cum laude, in Economics and International Studies.
