Person Description

Fatima Zahra is a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard Business School and a Fellow at the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University. Her research is focused on exploring the causes and effects of inequalities in human development (education, health, mental health, and employment) among refugees, girls and women, and other minoritized groups. She specializes in critical quantitative (including learning assessments in multilingual settings) and mixed methodologies, as well as randomized evaluation in low-resource settings. She is currently working on developing a human 2.0 framework for evaluating failures in the learning processes that lead to growth in cognitive and mental health. Her current research projects concern (a) developing context-sensitive learning and pedagogical frameworks to improve education and psychological wellbeing among refugee children and adolescents utilizing affordable technologies in Bangladesh and the Middle East and (b) to support financial reforms in the health sector in Indonesia to improve equitable health and life outcomes in partnership with the Ministry of Health
