Person Description

Eliana Carranza is a Senior Economist at the World Bank Jobs Group, in the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice. She works with national governments, NGOs and the private sector in the design and impact evaluation of novel pilot approaches to create more jobs, connect people to jobs, and increase the quality of jobs. She joined the World Bank as Young Professional in 2011, and served as Country Poverty Economist for Ethiopia and as Technical Adviser for the Africa Gender Innovation Lab, a gender-focused impact evaluation group at the Africa Chief Economist Office. She has conducted work on a number of countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, East Asia, and Latin America. She holds a PhD in Political Economy from Harvard University Department of Economics, and an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
