Person Description

Deanna Ford is a Strategy Consultant to Evidence for Policy Design, a research initiative at Harvard Kennedy School that aims to improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people by designing and enabling better policy. From 2009 to May 2019, she led growth, partnership development and organizational strategy of EPoD, as a team of over 50 based at HKS and abroad. Her particular interests lie in building strong inroads for evidence to contribute to concrete policy improvements that benefit the lives of worldwide citizens most in need. She has taught in numerous executive trainings on methods and strategies for leveraging data and research for policy and program improvement. Her work has also focused on building economic and leadership opportunities for women through a variety of policy channels.

Deanna also served as the Director of Building Capacity to Use Research Evidence (BCURE) Harvard, a four-year program implemented by EPoD in collaboration with a number of research and policy institutions in South Asia with funding from the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to increase use of data and evidence in policy decision-making. This program trained over 2000 policy makers in South Asia largely through an innovative blended learning curriculum, with documented knowledge and motivations gains, and has led to numerous tangible policy improvements in the countries of focus.

Deanna spent two years at the International Monetary Fund and has also worked for Agora Partnerships, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Center for Research on Children in the U.S. Deanna also founded and directed Nica HOPE, a non-profit that provided education and skills training to over 2000 disadvantaged youth in urban Managua, and led the merger of the organization with Fabretto Children’s Foundation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Fabretto.

Deanna completed her Master of Public Policy at Georgetown University and her BA in economics at Princeton University.
