Person Description

Maroof A. Syed serves as Senior Fellow and Advisor for EPoD's engagements in Pakistan. Maroof has 20+ years of entrepreneurship, management, investment and public policy leadership experience. Previously, he has held several senior management positions at big and startup technology companies including Broadcom Corporation (Formerly Silicon Spice), Texas Instruments and Intel Corporation (Formerly Dialogic) driving revenue growth, strategic customer engagements and product development. Maroof's public policy interests include Innovation for Economic Development, Data Analytics and Decision Sciences, and Evidence-based Governance. He also serves as the President & CEO of the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP), a premier evidence-based policy think tank that combines context-adjusted economic research and capacity building with intelligent analytics and embedded advisory services. 

Maroof is the 2017 recipient of the Lucius N. Littauer Award from the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). He is also on the Board of Directors of Pakistan Innovation Foundation (PIF), African Development University (ADU) and Sawayra, a non-profit focused on distributed energy solutions for underserved communities. Maroof has a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer (RPI) and MC/MPA from Harvard University.
