The Center for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP) is a non-profit research center based in Lahore with the strategic objective of informing policy and practice by filling socio-economic research gaps in Pakistan using rigorous economic research tools. CERP also facilitates an environment where the international academic community both within and outside Pakistan can work with program implementers to answer research questions that matter, bringing together academic findings, policy advice, and focused debate.

CERP is hiring for a number of positions this summer, as follows:

Project Coordinators

Research Associates

Research Assistants

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to work with leading economists and public policy experts from institutions such as Harvard University, Lahore University of Management Sciences LUMS), London School of Economics, and the University of California, Pomona College. Job Requirements, by role:

Project Coordinator

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), economics, public policy, or a related discipline from an internationally recognized university (well-qualified Bachelor’s candidates with 6-7 years of related work experience will also be considered).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in research/program management
  • Demonstrated management and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various tasks effectively and coordinate between project members
  • Previous fieldwork experience, particularly in Pakistan
  • Comfortable communicating with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors as well as with a wide range of urban and rural populations in PakistanFluent in English and Urdu

Research Associate

  • Master’s degree in economics, public policy, or a related discipline from an internationally recognized university (well-qualified Bachelor’s candidates with significant related work experience will also be considered.)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in research/program design and/or evaluation, including the design and execution of surveys, focus groups, and interviews
  • Familiarity with STATA and competency conducting regression analysis
  • Willingness to travel to urban and rural locations for fieldwork
  • Previous fieldwork experience, particularly in Pakistan
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various tasks effectively and coordinate between project members
  • Comfortable communicating with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors as well as with a wide range of urban and rural populations in Pakistan
  • Fluent in English and Urdu

Research Assistant

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, or a related discipline from an internationally recognized university.
  • Familiarity with research study design, rollout of experiments, development of survey instruments, and analysis of data related to the project.
  • Management of fieldwork related to the project in both urban and rural areas, including regular visits to the field.
  • Conducing focus groups, lab games, interviews, and surveys in the field and managing relationships with fieldwork partners to ensure the successful execution of the field component of the research.
  • Comfortable communicating with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors as well as with a wide range of urban and rural populations in Pakistan
  • Conducting literature reviews on relevant conceptual aspects of the project.
  • Fluent in English and Urdu.
